Introducing a coffee roastery in Mochimune, which deals in high-quality specialty coffee beans. Featuring a wide range of rare coffee beans, only 5% of which are distributed in Japan. You can even taste the coffee beans before you buy, so you can make your purchase without any regrets!
We want to bring specialty coffee to as many people as possible.

Moetora Coffee opened on the ground floor of Hut Park Mochimune in Suruga-ku, Shizuoka City, in March 2024. It's not a café, but a coffee bean roastery and sales store. We interviewed the owner, Mr. Ashida, to find out more.

Moetora Coffee was opened to bring the appeal of specialty coffee to as many people as possible! The coffee beans are roasted on a daily basis using the latest roasting machines from Probat in Germany, one of the world's three largest roasting machine manufacturers.
"Original Blend" supervised by Masakuni Sakata, the best roaster in Japan.

The Japan Coffee Roasting Championship (JCRC) is a competition where coffee roasting experts put their techniques to the test. At Moetora Coffee, Mr. Masakuni Sakata, a roaster who won the 2019 JCRC, is invited to the store regularly and instructs the staff on hand-picking coffee beans for selection, cupping, brewing, tasting, and so on. "We want our coffee to taste good, so please ask us about anything you may be interested in," Mr. Takimoto, a staff member, says, "Once I started drinking specialty coffee, I couldn't drink the regular coffee I used to drink. It's that good." He also talked about the appeal of specialty coffee.

Moetora Coffee sells "Moetora Coffee Original Blend" supervised by Mr. Sakata. It is a well-balanced blend of coffee beans from different regions, including two Ethiopian varieties, along with varieties from Guatemala and Colombia, each with its own unique characteristics.
Taste test to find the coffee that's best for you!

Moetora Coffee offers coffee tastings, with the exception of some products. As of March 2025, there are four types of coffee beans in the line-up.
- Mochimune Blend
- Original Blend
- Colombia
- Smooth Brazil
Mochimune Blend and Original Blend are blends of several types of beans, while Colombian and Smooth Brazilian are single origin, meaning that only one type of coffee bean is used.
The Mochimune blend is a dark roast blend. However, the Colombian is only lightly roasted to bring out its fruity acidity. It has a more mild flavor and is easy to drink. We encourage you to come to the shop so you can try it for yourself and select your own favorite flavor!
How to brew a good cup of coffee

We asked the owner, Mr. Ashida, what is important for making a good cup of coffee.
"The most important thing is to use good beans and brew only freshly ground coffee. Freshness is the most important thing with coffee. Oxidation starts as soon as the beans are ground, so we want our customers to grind and brew only the amount of coffee you want to drink. That is why we mainly sell coffee beans. Of course, we can give you ground coffee, but in that case we hope you will drink it within a week."
Moetora's coffee beans can be brewed both hot and iced, according to the brand. Coffee is less bitter and more acidic when brewed cold. Therefore, dark roasted bitter coffee is more suitable for iced coffee, and our ice coffee blend is made with this balance in mind.
"The beans used at Moetora Coffee are highly ranked specialty coffee, which gives the coffee its original bright acidity and sweet aftertaste. We are confident in the taste of our coffee, so we hope you will come and try it."
Original bags made from coffee bean jute bags

Moetora Coffee also sells merchandise! The jute bags that the coffee beans are imported in are reused to make original tote bags. Each bag has a different design, so you can have a bag unique to you. They also make a great gift for coffee lovers!
Self-serve coffee available on the spot.

You can also self-brew a drip bag of Moetora Coffee to enjoy for take-out at 450 yen per cup. The staff will instruct you on how to brew your own cup of delicious coffee. You can even enjoy a cup of Mochimune blend espresso at Fes Coffee just around the corner, or iced coffee at Moetora Curry on the second floor of Hut Park.
If you consider yourself a coffee lover, we highly encourage you to visit Moetora Coffee and experience the taste of specialty coffee for yourself!
