The fireworks festival "GION Matsuri" held every June at the Mochimune beach is a regular event in the lives of Mochimune citizens. It gives us the hint that the summer is just around the corner.
Gion Matsuri is a festival of the Tsushima Shrine, started in Edo period. It is said that originated from the Gion Festival in Kyoto.
One of the main events of Gion Matsuri is that carrying the Mikoshi (portable shrine) by local students every Saturday of June, along with many lanterns are lit on the path to the Shrine with food stalls make mystical scenery.
