Located on the first floor of the seaside commercial facility, Hut Park Mochimune, with a stunning view of Suruga Bay, there's a shop offering delicious large stuffed pancakes(obanyaki) filled with homemade cream and traditional dumplings(dango). This Japanese confectionery store, loved by customers of all ages--from small children to elderly grandparents--is called Imamuraya. Let us introduce you to this beloved establishment.
The large stuffed pancakes (obanyaki) from Imamuraya are made with an original batter and filling, and they are absolutely delicious.
In April 2021, Imamuraya, a sweets shop overlooking the ocean, opened in Hut Park Mochimune. The shop's signature product, obanyaki, features a soft and fluffy batter made with a special blend and filled with their homemade cream, making it irresistibly delicious! The standard flavors include sweet red bean paste (ogura-an), custard cream, and matcha cream, along with several seasonal varieties. The ogura-an, made from Hokkaido-grown azuki beans, is lightly sweetened to let the natural flavor of the beans shine through. The homemade custard cream offers a unique taste you won't find at other shops, and the fragrant matcha cream is also exceptional!
Another major attraction of Imamuraya' restaurant is their homemade cream made with fresh fruits. On the day of our visit, the seasonal flavors were sakura (cherry blossom) bean paste, apple cream, and strawberry cream. The apple cream is a standout, offering the refreshing aroma of apples and the crunchy texture of real fruit pieces-- a testament to the shop's commitment to quality. It's one of the most popular items at Imamuraya. The strawberry cream, made with Amaou strawberries, is incredibly fresh and addictive, making it a favorite for many. The ever-changing seasonal fruit creams keep regular customers coming back for more.
The colorful dango (sweet rice dumplings) are especially popular with children!
The owner of Imamuraya, Mr. Imamura, trained at a dango shop before opening his own store, so the dango's taste is exceptional! The colorful kibi dango, with their cute appearance, are especially popular with young children. The blue filling has a refreshing soda flavor, while the red filling is a fresh strawberry flavor, offering a taste that even adults can enjoy.
Of course, the classic mitarashi dango, the gently sweet kinako, and the black sesame dango with its fragrant sesame and soy sauce glaze are also highly recommended! All of the dango have a wonderfully chewy texture and are soft and delicious. They're perfect for an afternoon snack or for enjoying with family
In the summer, you can also enjoy snow cone (kakigori) with homemade syrup and refreshing drinks!
During the summer, Mochimune Beach bustles with swimmers. During this season, Imamuraya temporarily pauses the sale of their taiyaki and switches to a summer lineup, offering items like shaved ice with homemade syrup, chilled fruit jelly, and watermelon smoothies.
The fluffy shaved ice topped with plenty of homemade fruit syrup is perfect for cooling down after a day in the summer sun. The fresh, homemade syrup, which includes real fruit pieces, is safe and enjoyable even for children! After refreshing yourself in the shade along the coast, head back to the beach for more fun!
What Imamura-ya Values
"The store loved by local grandpas and grandmas."
That's what Imamura-ya's owner, Mr. Imamura, says about his shop. While it offers colorful treats like kibi dango and chocolate-coated "Chocomanto" popular with children, its product lineup goes beyond that. The store also offers traditional sweets like kashiwamochi, kusa mochi, and matcha dango, which are enjoyed by elderly customers. Many older neighbors visit the shop frequently, making it a place cherished by people of all ages.
Seasonal treats like strawberry daifuku, kashiwamochi, and warabi mochi are also available at Imamura-ya, enhancing its appeal. These seasonal offerings are one of the reasons loyal customers return frequently. Be sure to enjoy Imamura-ya's traditional Japanese sweets as a delightful companion for your stroll around Mochimune!
